Eye Irritation Test of Recombinant Human Alpha-Interferon-2α eyedrops in Rabbits

Abstract

|
The eye irritation by recombinant human α-interferon-2a (rHu- α -IFN-2a) eyedrops was tested in the rabbits. The eye irritation test of this material was performed according to the Regulation of Korean National Institute of Safety Research (1994. 4. 14, KNISR 94-3). The results was as followings ; In the single application test. 0.1㎖ of rHu- α -IFN-2a (300,000 unit/3㎖) eyedrops and 0.9% saline as vehicle control were applied to one eye of rabbit respectively. The reactions were examined to one week after treatment. No eye irritation was observed in the rabbit eyes treated with the test solutions and 0.9% saline. Therefore, we suggested that rHu-α-IFN-2a do not induced eye irritation in rabbits.
